Caught in the Act
A juried exhibit of photographs of people caught in the act of taking photographs.

The Exhibit: Caught in the Act is a juried exhibit of photographs showing people caught in the act of taking photographs. This show is open to all photographers and the images can be fictional or documentary. Photographs can be old, new, color, B&W or digital to qualify. Two exhibits are planned. First, a show at Icebox Gallery, second, the show travels to Medtronic, Inc. World Headquarters for another exhibit.

The Juror: Howard M. Christopherson, artist and owner of Icebox Quality Framing and Gallery. Icebox is an artist-owned framing and gallery space in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Established in 1988, Icebox Gallery has a reputation for thought-provoking exhibits. Icebox Gallery has recently expanded adding 530 square feet of additional exhibit space.

The Shows & Dates: Icebox Opening Saturday, November 11, 2006. Closing date is January 6, 2007.  The Medtronic show to be determined. All selected prints will be temporarily matted and framed by Icebox for these exhibits and each image will posted on the Icebox website. (For this reason please send quality jpegs.)

Awards: One Medtronic Purchase Award and Two $100.00 cash Icebox Choice Awards.

Eligibility: Open to all photographers worldwide, working in digital or film-based photography. (Accepted artwork must conform to strict size limitations.)

Specifications: All artwork must show a person or a camera in the act of photographing. Maximum print size is 11 x 14 inches either horizontal or vertical.
Artwork not conforming to these specifications will be disqualified from the exhibit.

Entry Fee: The entry fee is $30 for up to 3 jpegs, plus $5 for each additional Jpeg up to a maximum of five jpegs. Entry fee must accompany entry. All checks or money orders must be drawn on a U.S. bank. Please make all checks payable to ICEBOX.  ONLY entrants from outside the U.S. may pay by VISA or MasterCard (Surface mail with CDR, include card number, type, and expiration date and complete customer billing address).  All fees are non-refundable.

Entry Instructions: Jury is by CDR ONLY / JPEG IMAGES, please send clear and sharp quality images.  2200 x 2800 Pixels Maximum.
Submit up to five jpegs on one CDR clearly labeled with your name, image title, retail price, date and your email address.  Include one page WORD DOC and one paper copy on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper with your name, address, and phone and/or fax number(s), e-mail address, and the titles and information for the jpegs you have submitted. You are encouraged to include up to one paragraph of information to accompany your image as wall label and with the web image.
CDR Discs will not be returned. Do not send any images or entries to our email address.

Entries must be delivered by 5 PM September 15, 2006
, and will be juried soon after. Notifications will be emailed out soon after; please do not call to inquire.

Liability: Works will be handled with the utmost care. Any insurance required by the artist will be his or her sole responsibility. Icebox Gallery and/or its employees cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss occurring during the shipment, installation, exhibition, and takedown of this exhibit.

Sales: Sales will be encouraged throughout the run of the exhibit. Gallery commission is 50% of the retail price.

Shipping, Delivery & Return: SEND PRINT ONLY, NO FRAME OR MAT. Shipped artwork should be properly packed in a reusable container for a safe return. All shipped artworks must have return postage or a check in the correct amount plus $30 dollars installation fee for each piece selected (include insurance costs if desired). Include any delivery instructions. Shipped work must arrive before October 13th, 2006.  Works delivered C.O.D. will not be accepted. Hand-delivered works will be accepted during our business hours. All artwork not picked up or sent without return postage will become the property of the gallery. Frame materials will remain with Icebox after the exhibitions and artworks are returned. Icebox reserves the option to hold for sale the works in the entire exhibit for up to one year, at that time unsold works will be returned to the artist providing the artist has sent the necessary postage along with the image.

Installation / Framing Fee: $30 dollars for installation of each piece selected for exhibit.
Installation fee will offset the expense to uniformly frame the exhibit and promote the show. Fee must be sent along with the selected prints prior to the exhibit.

Agreement: Submitting a CDR entry to this show constitutes an agreement to all the above conditions. Icebox assumes the right to use your image for publicity and for permanent display on our website.
