I photographed Howard at home in Excelsior, Minnesota. Howard has been an artist all of his life. He made his living as a graphic designer from 1949 - 1999, and began painting full time in 1999. In 1995 Howard was awarded first place in the prestigious Arts for the Parks painting competition and received a $50,000 purchase award. He continues entering the competition, and has been in the top 200 finalists 7 times.
