I photographed Sid with his Lieca behind the Icebox. Sid is a street photographer who was born in the South Bronx, NY, in 1938. He saw his first print develop in a cousin’s darkroom at age10 and was mesmerized. Sid is best know as a fine art photography printer; he’s been at it since 1956. He has printed the work of Robert Frank since1968, and has worked for many others including the Weegee estate, Allen Ginsberg, and Lou Faurer. Sid has also taught darkroom for thirty years at the School for Visual Arts in NYC. He is currently scouting for a book publisher for his book concept: his images of NYC from 1952-1959.
